The era of Bob Weaver

I was a cub reporter at the Ledger and Post Dispatch in 1983-84. I covered cops in Pittsburg and the City Councils in Antioch and Pittsburg (but not at the same time). Clay Kallum was one of the editors. Ben Reed, too. Other folks: reporters John Lovejoy, Tom Mays, Patrick Twohy, copy editor Roger Meyers, sports writer J.P., office assistant Trina Gallegos, photographer Curtis Corlew, and many others whose names escape me just now. I remember an office Christmas Party when Margaret Lesher told an unabashedly racist story about their trip to South Africa. I also remember a big flap when Lesher spiked Patrick Twohy's reporting about complaints from buyers of Al Seeno's homes. I left to go to CC Times until I was laid off Oct. 31, 1986. After a stint at business and legal trade papers in Florida and San Francisco, I went to law school. Now I have a small law firm in S.F. See you on the bike trails, Curtis. Regards, David Newdorf
